REVIEWERS

1. Reviewing

Articles submitted to IC for review will be published in the Select section of the journal, should they be accepted for publication. The “Keys,” “References,” and “Tribune” sections are strictly reserved for guest articles, whose requirements will be covered below.

All submissions will be subject to a comprehensive double blind peer-revision process, including external reviewers with no relation to the editorial board of IC or Seville University. Original manuscripts will be reviewed anonymously by a minimum of two experts in the subject matter and/or research methods employed of the same (or equivalent) academic standing.

Before sending articles to external reviewers, two members of the editorial board will ensure that they satisfy all the formal requirements of the journal, including subject matter. Should articles fail to satisfy the said requirements the author/s will be informed that his/her/their manuscript will not be evaluated by the journal’s external reviewers.

IC has a stable body of reviewers, as well as using ad hoc reviewers when the subject matter of an article so demands. Under no circumstance will reviewing take more than 75 days. Should there be disagreement between reviewers, the article may be sent to a third reviewer. In this case, the evaluation process will be prolonged to 90 days. Authors will receive a report from IC, detailing the reasons behind the reviewers’ decision (acceptance, rejection or conditional acceptance requiring specific modifications to be made to the manuscript).

2. Reviewers

Reviewers undertake to carry out their evaluations in a critical, honest and constructive fashion, in accordance with the following guidelines:

  •  Reviewers should complete their evaluation in a maximum of 40 days so that the journal can fulfil its commitment to expediting the reviewing process.
  •  With the same aim, if a reviewer cannot, for any circumstances, carry out the evaluation before the aforementioned deadline, he or she should immediately inform the editor, so that the manuscript can be assigned to another reviewer.
  • Reviewers should only undertake evaluation work if they feel that they possess sufficient knowledge of the subject matter and have no conflicts of interest.
  • Reviewers undertake to send the editor a comprehensive and critical report, using the form available on the website of IC, Scientific Information and Communication Journal.
